    Default OysterCatcher

Captured this morning at Little Estero Lagoon (Artie - been using the parking spot a lot lately - THANKS!). Captured using my normal modus operandi.....face down in the mud.

    Canon 1DsMII, 600mm F/4, 1/2500, f/4, ISO 200, hand held.

    Bob,
    Well done.
What makes this a "well done" image?
    Here is my opinion.

The eye level view that allows for a personal connection between the subject and viewer.
The subject is parallel to the image plane with eye contact. Catch light in the eye.
More negative space in the front of the subject than behind. Room to walk into.
Nice use of an OOF background to make your subject stand out.
The image is well exposed and sharp.
The foot being raised is a bonus, adding life to the subject.

I might prefer a little more room above the subjects head.

This Oyster Catcher is an immature (the black on the bill is the tell) from this years hatch.

    James

A very nice image, Bob. James has already listed the reasons. I didn't know about the juvenile bill color so I learned something today. :)

Great angle, exposure control and the raised leg and details add to it. I agree regarding more space at the top and there is a slight sharpening halo around the bill.

Very well done, Bob, for the reasons mentioned. You modus operandi is the best around ;)
