    Default YCNH Pop Up Portrait

This yellow crown night heron just popped his head up as I was driving by.
Of course I had to get a shot, as I have had no access to YCNH all spring.

    400mm, Tamron 1.4x, ISO 800, f/7.1, 1/320, cropped from horizontal, taken a bit after 9 this morning

    Thank you for continuing critique

Nice sharpness and eye contact Dave. I like the OOF grass with the exception of the long one running up into the bird's neck. I would remove that one. Thanks for posting!

You did well with all the technicals, Dave and I like the image. I just wish the specimen had been a little "prettier." :) This guy must have been doing some deep probing in the mud, or something.

Very nice portrait, light and BG. I agree with Doug regarding the long blade of grass that I might remove.

Great portrait with nice colors and details. Agree with others on the one blade of grass.

Nice catch. I agree with the other comments, plus I'd suggest lightening the image a bit.
