A different harrier frame
Northern harriers are among the most skittish raptors, it is actually easier to photograph them in flight than when perched as they usually don't let you get anywhere close to them this includes when you are inside of a truck. During my stay in SoCal, Dave and I came across an unusual situation where we could get very close to this juvenile female and get some closeup frames. It was fun watching her up close in the finder
1D-X 600II + 1.4 III. ISO 500. F/5.6, 1/3200sec hand held from truck. processed with DPP 4.3
I hope you like it

A great portrait, and as you say, quite unusual. Juvies are often more accepting, but this is remarkable. Whenever and wherever Dave parks his truck, it always yields beautiful light and backgrounds.

I ditto Bill's comments, and add, the perch is as nice as the bird

Nice to see you post a portrait and what a lovely one it is. Your light was amazing as was the opportunity. I'd like to see a bit more room above the raptor.

I like the inquisitive look that she is giving you. Nicely done, Arash.

Wow, I'm envious of the opportunity this gal gave you guys!! Terrific image, and I love the perfect "down-the-barrel" look.

Beautiful clean portrait, details as good as always.
For me, it's the slightly offset head angle giving that 'quizzical' look that makes the frame.

Love the inquisitive look from the bird. Amazing to get so close to a Harrier, and you made the most of the encounter!
