    Default Snow Bunting

I saw this bird in a flock of horned larks on the beach here in New England early last Saturday morning. I waited till it was by itself.

    Nikon D300 with Nikkor 500 f/4 plus 1.7 tc. 1/640 at f/8 - aperture priority.

Note: I switched images - see post numbers 6-8 . The original image I posted is here.

Welcome, Allan. Very nice light and pose. These guys are extremely skittish whenever I see them. I would go for a slightly tighter crop and sharpen the bunting a bit more. What is this behind the bird, paper?

This beach has a lot of garbage washed up on it. I cloned out all the small stuff to the right of the bunting and to the front. I did not even notice the paper. Kinda funny. :(

On the other hand I could re-post it in the avian with hand of man gallery. Duh!

I like the crop and sharpening however. If anything, I wonder if it would appear oversaturated to some viewers but that was the way it looked in the morning light.

The light looks good to me and I don't think it is oversaturated. I can move the thread for you.

What a nice bird. The gorgeous light often gives the appearance of over saturation which I really like and that's the way it was seen. I know that you like the image as with no cropping and I think that's important. On the other hand I would be tempted to crop just a little on the top and left side to get it slightly more off cente. It would still leave plenty of the plant to give it a nice habitat look.

Well, I took out the paper this afternoon. I don't think it is allowed to post it to this thread is it?

I never thought of that Axel. I just switched images and gave a link to the original one. Thanks.

Lovely light on this image. I like the bird's pose and look as well. You did a nice job of cloning out the trash. I think a crop from the bottom and a slight crop from the left would improve the composition.
