A repeat of last year at about the same time. This female Merlin gave us great opportunities while watching her hunt for dragonflies. She gave us about an hour of very close shots preening and waiting to cast her last catch. Then she began intense hunting as the morning warmed up and the dragonflies began flying;Shot from car window on a beanbag. D4 600mm with 1.4tc, ISO 500, 1/2500 sec at F 7.1. Hi Glenn, I like the IQ and light in this, and you have brought out the detail and colours so well. Great seeing the dragonfly too.

    Hi Glenn,

Love the perch, bird, dragonfly, background, composition ... pretty much everything.

I wonder if the image can benefit from a tad more sharpening ?

Lovely image in every way, Glenn, and I am green with envy. The colors on the bird's face, those talons and the prey put it over the top.

I hope to have an opportunity to meet you while out at David & Doug's workshop next month?!

Great looking frame Buddy. Love the hunched pose with the prey item. The perch and the BG look great too. What a great deal to have her back for a second season. Love the title too. See ya soon

What a great frame. Detail, color, perch, background and prey all come together. I've never noticed such colors on a Merlin, but then I've never gotten this close to one. Very nicely done.
