A Blue Grosbeak with a mouthful of grass seeds. It would grab a seed head and hold it against the perch to keep it steady. The last light of day gave the bg grass a nice warm glow.

I really like the habitat in this one. The fat bladed leaf on the bottom is slightly distracting but not too much. Might even work to crop it out and go to a 1:1 aspect ratio. That blue is set of nicely from the background. I like it.

The cascade of grass flowers reminds me of fireworks and really works well with the subject. I think I'm seeing a bit of sharpening halo around the bird so maybe turning down the USM thermostat would work?

Hi David !!! Good suggestions and I was going to suggest moving the bird out of the center but it this instance it works. Love that bg !!!

Really a great image. I love the inclusion of all the grass.

Gorgeous bird, nicely captured. I might have cropped it differently.

Great shot, lovely contrasting colours, I like the composition though it does make me think what if it was landscape or perhaps a little lower in the frame. I suspect you have considered this and this is an optimal presentation.

Great light, setting and details. Maybe a tad less sharpening and it might also work with the OOF grass removed but I like it as is.
