    I went to Circle B Bar Reserve this morning, heavy clouds and dark. I managed to get a couple good frames, this is one. Comments and critique welcomed and appreciated. Thank you for viewing.

    Nikon D7000
    Nikon 80-400mm F/4.5-5.6 VRII AF-S ED shot at 400mm (600mm FFE)
    1/500 F/5.6 Matrix Metering +1 EV ISO 5600 AWB
    Post processed in Lightroom 6 and Photoshop Elements 10, background work cloning and smoothing, misplaced vegetation removed
    Cropped for composition and presentation

    The dark-ish BG highlights the bird nicely Joe - and there's lots of detail to appreciate, although it disappears slightly on the breast. I'm surprised at the low noise level at such high ISO's - One of the things I've been rapped on the fingers for on my shot placed yesterday (Nikon D7100).

    Hi Joe, I like the alert pose with the large round eye, and the grey's and yellow's of the plumage go very well together. As you mentioned, looks like you were battling for light, but I feel your DOF isnt too bad.

    The overall concept and execution are great. My big problem is the awkward head position with the bird looking too far to its left for me..... If it were mine, I would lose the spider web on the bill. EXP and sharpness right one. a
