I captured these images of a Great Blue Heron eating a fish that was very large. As the images show it finally did get it down but not without difficulty positioning it just right. Comments and critique welcomed and appreciated. Thank you for viewing.

Wonderful sequence. So neat to see a bird gag down such a large meal.

    Hello Joseph!

What a lovely surprise! I cannot believe this bird actually managed to swallow a fish this size, terrific series depicting the feeding behaviour of the species:)

Some of those images (especially no 3 and 4) are somewhat comical:) I think it took some skill to capture this sequence, lots of time waiting and watching and gaining knowledge on behaviour patterns of this Heron, also learning the cues, getting ready to press the shutter, waiting, not losing concentration...

I like the space around the bird in all frames. Perhaps you would not mind to share with us your exif data, interested what equipment you used and camera settings.

This was definitely worth the wait and I really appreciate your participation! I really enjoyed viewing, this was my treat for tonight as I just got back from a day trip to Durban and missed out on my "Sunday BPN time", thank you again, Joe

    Warmest regards,

I've been seeing the GBH do this for years, yet it still amazes me each time. Love how you captured the fish going down its gullet. Nice sequence.

What a huge meal. That's an awesome ending the last frame provides! Wonder if he could fly afterwards with the extra weight?
