good details and soft light, to take these shots to a higher level you need to get low to ground and pay more attention to the HA. check out this excellent article by Artie

Hi Arash. Thanks for the comments. Point taken regards a lower shooting angle. When I took the image I was keen to get the whole reflection in, now I don't think it adds anything to the image and would be better cropped about a couple of inches below the foot reflection. Will take another look at Arties HA article.

You must have a sharp copy of the 100-400 as the Mallard has excellent details, David. Love the preening pose, colors and light are great, lovely overall.

Hi David,
I feel Arash's suggestions are bang-on. I really enjoyed the referenced thread on HA.
For my tastes, the benefits of a super-low perspective can sometimes trump the beauty of a reflection.
I am learning to give consideration to what may be on the horizon behind the bird, and if I can change my position to better it. Sometimes a happy medium (low but not laying down) may be best if the background is not ideal.
Colors and clarity of your shot are really good David.

Thanks Karl. I replaced the 7D and 100-400 earlier this year to the Mk2 of both items. Guess I was lucky with my copy of the original.
