Am getting mightily fed up with the rain on my days off. Thought I would cheer myself up by browsing some old images. This one was from my first trip to Mull, these birds are magnificent and are certainly one of the most memorable days birding I have had.- along with my first bee eater, first vulture, lammergeyer, black grouse lek, etc - the list goes on.
Wings clipped on orig. so I cropped into the image to strengthen it.
Image darkened slightly and shadows lifted slightly, horizon levelled and some sharpening done to it

    Ivan:

The talons gripping the fish look incredibly powerful. I like the texture and detail in the neck feathers, soft background has just enough detail to give some depth.

The dark shadows, esp. of the near wing do dominate the image somewhat. That heavy dark mass at the top of the frame really pulls the eye.

It would be interesting to see the original frame just to see what cropping options you have for the top.

    Cheers

Does it rain in Manchester mate? we have a drop on this side too Ivan. Magnificent looking bird very well caught, looks like it would be hard work with the light you had, very well done.

Bit too much of the wet stuff over here just recently! This is a great capture. Focus and exposure very good. I have been playing around with the crop and a possible solution would be to crop just above the right wing. I know that would virtually eliminate the left wing but ssee what you think.
