This is another image from my backyard set-up. Last week I posted the female on the opposite side of this perch. I choose this head angle so the red patch would be more visible. All C&Cs are welcome and appreciated.

    Bill:

Sharp, well exposed, classic woodpecker composition. I like the slight tilt of the tree.

    Nicely captured.

    Cheers

Wonderful sharp, clear shot, gorgeous background. I think you made a great choice to keep the patch in the shot.

Jim it's the clarity of these shots you are posting, is it all real good light over there? Classic pose and lovely feather detail, very nice indeed.

    Hi Jim,

This side-on perspective seems best for a bird on a tree trunk. I love the composition, the background, and the fact that the tree trunk is not at all distracting.

A more eye-level perspective may have left me with more of a feeling of connection with the bird, as here it seems like he is looking over my head.

Classic woodpecker, super clarity and colours spot on. For those in the UK who haven't seen this bird in the flesh, they are small woodpeckers similar to out lesser spot, not easy birds to get good shots of.

A neat view of a woodpecker "grip" on the trunk. Everything looks pretty good to me, well done Jim.

Classic WP pose and comp. No nits from me. Just the right HA to get eye contact and red spot, which isn't so easy to do with these guys.

Hi Jim, excellent IQ, light and detail, and well exposed on both the whites and blacks. Good DOF throughout the image, tack sharp, and I do like the look of the bark on your tree set up.
