Egyptian Goose in Flight

I was photographing birds on the water when this flew right in front of me. I took a snapshot and was pleasantly surprised to see how well the focus locked on with the 1.4x extender mounted. The only frame I got and this is the full frame.

Canon 7D Mk2. Canon 100-400 L Mk2. Canon 1.4x Extender.

1/4000 @ f8 Auto ISO at 2000 + 1ev

David for someone that can't take a flying bird to save is life, I would be very pleased to have this one, looks like that1/4000 really worked, very well done.

Colours and exposure look good. Sharpness OK too. The feet tucked in under the tail is a neat feature. Too bad the goose has slightly passed you at time of exposure, and I would have preferred a higher wing position (similar to Stu's pelican directly above your post).

Hi David, well captured. We have Egyptian Geese at most of our wetlands, so I get to practise on them quite often. I do like the colour of the water, and Dan has covered the main points.

nice light and BG, but he had already passed you. wing position mentioned by Daniel, some of the highlights appear overexposed.

Lovely details David, it feels good when that happens! I like the colours on the bird and the slightly turned head, which compensates a little, for the bird flying past you.

I like the sharpness, water color and composition. A better wing position would be nice but you take what you can get. The head turn does compensate for the goose being past you. Well done David.
