Thought I would go out on a limb and post this pan blur. I know the heads of the birds aren't sharp but I was going for some nice water texture. The lake was really rough on this early November day. All C&Cs are welcome and appreciated.

Jim understand what you are saying about the heads not being sharp but the motion blur of the whole image makes it all look right, pano crop's good, I like it.

Thanks Keith for the kind comment. I normally don't do this type of image but thought I would participate in this months theme.

Hi Jim. I love the colours throughout the image, but, I feel that the gulls dont pop enough ? Lovely movement on the canvas.

A bit more contrast would help, and I wish for a few less merges between birds, but I love the water streaking and texture giving off a strong sense of movement.

    Jim:

The pan blur of the water is very effective, but agree with Daniels comments about the merges, and do wish for the birds to be a bit sharper.

My experience has been with this type of image, that the keeper rate is very low, but when it comes together, can be quite striking.

    Cheers

I don't think that it's a rule to have heads sharp in a blur shot. Love the blurred effect and this would be a stronger image without the merged birds.

Hi Jim, I really like the motion blurred BG, and I would try a version with a bit more contrast. Have you tried B&W ?

Thanks everyone for the comments and suggestions. Stu I just tried a B&W with the contrast bumped up a bit and like it. These pan blurs are very difficult and it was fun giving it a go but a little too many clicks on my aging 1D MK IV!
