    Default Coot !

    Shot near a nearby park,a couple of weeks ago. I know, I should have had a bit of space at the back of the bird.

    Aside from needing more space on the right, this image is truly quite pleasing and tranquil. Love the layers of color in the water. Not sure what's going on with your crop. I'll see if I can get you some help.

    nice low angle, crop already mentioned.
    You should be able to extract more details in the head darks as well as the beak area

    You did well with the sharpness on the coot. Blacks, although a bit dark on the face, look good. The water, for the most part, looks very appealing...there is just that bright spot top centre edge that really pulls the eye. Yes to more space behind the subject as you mention. Which focus point did you use?

    Thanks you all for the comments and support.

    This is after some heavy shadow recovery.

    @Daniel Cadieux
    I think I used one closer to the centre, if not the centre, as it was hunting a lot with the peripheral AF points. I should have locked the AF and recomposed but the bird was erratic and moving. It is long shot, cropped and straightened a bit.
