This is more like the typical distance that I see Northern Harriers, if I'm lucky to see them at all. Almost never close enough for fine detail, and they don't generally look like much when photographed this small in the frame. But I thought this one had the advantage of spread wings and tail catching the last sun of the evening against the darker wooded background beyond, and the Birch trees, to make it into a birdscape. Removed a few oof electric wires in the background. Cropped to 67% of full width. C&C always appreciated.

Your nemesis bird may not be as close as you'd like, but this is one heck of a small in the frame image!!! The colors palette is great, love the comp and the light is stunning. I would be delighted with this image.

I think the image works quite well too, with a great late-fall feel to it. The habitat is excellent. Must have been really good lemons cause the lemonade you made with them sure looks sweet!

I quite like this shot Bill. The warm light on the bird against the darker background is splendid, and the slightly OOF birch trees add context.

Very nice solution to capture this great bird, Bill!

Nice bird, but the habitat that you have captured rocks. Just love it, Bill.

Nice "small in the frame" image.
I love the light and the color palette.
I look at this and wonder if you moved the harrier down to the RLC if it would look better.Or if you have more canvas at the top, to include more of the tree tops thus moving the bird down in the frame with minimal hanky-panky!

Wonderful late afternoon environmental fall image, Bill. Excellent post production work too.

Hi Gail. I wouldn't resort to hanky-panky for just anybody, but for you: does this look any better? There's no more room at the top.

Excellent image Bill! The fall feel you captured here is perfect. I think it worked out that he didn't get in close or you may have binned this beauty Bill.

Well captured female Northern Harrier. Environment is great. More often than not that is how I see these beauties.
