A ring-billed gull hovering for fish over the Cuyahoga River in downtown Cleveland. The tan in the background is a reflection of concrete grain silos on the other side.

Pleasing image with lovely light and BG. Some of the whites look a bit hot.

I like the sharpness, dangling feet, light and composition. Nice image Ron.

A common gull, but I think one of the prettiest. I like the two toned background. Might partly have to do with jpeg compression but I think that the whites need brought down a bit. The catchlight in his eye adds life.

Nice hover shot Ron. We have loads of gulls down on the river here - I must get out and try a few. Trouble is they all have beaks full of fish and chips !!!

    Thanks, all. Greatly appreciated.
I will keep an eye on the whites in the future--they were exposed well in the original although there wasn't a lot of detail in the brightest patches. The conversion to jpg didn't do them any favors.

Hi Ron, I like the light in this, and I do like the flight pose showing off the far wing. I agree some of the whites seem hot, but overall, the gull stands out very well against the BG.

Nothing add suggestion-wise, but man, that far wing looks super. The grain silo helped you with the water colours.
