These guys are often shy and retreating, but this one wallowed in the golden-bronze autumnal hues of the waters long enough to get some good stuff to process.
Canon 7D + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/1250s., f/5.6, ISO 800, natural light, handheld, about 85% FF, a few specks in the water removed via clone/spot/patch tools, NR to the BG and FG.
A superb image Daniel. I would not crop any further since you would lose that lovely graduation of blur, texture and tone. The plane of focus is slightly lost on the water but that is a minor nit.
Hi Dan, love the low angle, together with the light. I really like the greens and browns on the head, and nice and sharp too. I feel the placement is spot on, and I do like the colour of your BG. Well captured.
Lovely fellow, excellent detail displayed even at this small size in the frame. Nice fall colors.
This classic position of small subject in the frame works well, but I am such a pano guy for waterfowl, that I might try a crop 10% or so off the top, but purely personal taste.
Daniel,
I think this is one of my favorites of yours.
Love, love the colors in this image. The color of the water compliments the teal perfectly.
The light is killer and the comp- perfect for me.
Well done,
Gail
