These guys are often shy and retreating, but this one wallowed in the golden-bronze autumnal hues of the waters long enough to get some good stuff to process.

I especially like the colors in this image, Dan. I could see it just a little tighter. TFS.

A superb image Daniel. I would not crop any further since you would lose that lovely graduation of blur, texture and tone. The plane of focus is slightly lost on the water but that is a minor nit.

Hi Dan, love the low angle, together with the light. I really like the greens and browns on the head, and nice and sharp too. I feel the placement is spot on, and I do like the colour of your BG. Well captured.

Lovely image Dan. This is a beautiful little bird and I am glad that your persistence paid off so that we are all treated to this lovely image.

    Daniel:

Lovely fellow, excellent detail displayed even at this small size in the frame. Nice fall colors.

This classic position of small subject in the frame works well, but I am such a pano guy for waterfowl, that I might try a crop 10% or so off the top, but purely personal taste.

    Cheers

Dan - this works on all counts for me but I like minimalist, small in frame images. Beautiful colors and light.

The crop is just about perfect for my taste. I always find it difficult to get near these guys. Great light and colours

    Daniel,
I think this is one of my favorites of yours.
Love, love the colors in this image. The color of the water compliments the teal perfectly.
The light is killer and the comp- perfect for me.
    Well done,
    Gail

I just love small in the frame images and this one is superb. The color palette and colors just rock. The ruffled feathers adds a little something!

Love the golden water and the beautiful light on the bird. Placement in the frame is perfect, but I could also see a pano crop like Randy suggested.

Fantastic colors and light and I like the space you've given this gorgeous, small duck.
