    A good capture and a rather neat bird. The detail and graduation in tone especially on the bird's bill is impressive.

    These are not easy birds to get right with the exposure. You have managed it beautifully. The feather detail is super. Am I right in supposing that this image was taken on an overcast day?

    Hi Dave, no the coot was under direct evening light, I expose for the whites and the pull the darks in post

    I was surprised to see that this image was yours since it's so rare you share more than birds of prey. Love the light and exposure is spot on.
