Here's a Caspian Tern from two years ago in Cape May, that I don't think I ever posted. He was performing aerobatics over the pond at the hawkwatch platform, just as the sun was beginning to set, and offered a number of good poses. This one is cropped from the horizontal.

Good angles pose and in some sweet low light. The vertical crop is OK, but I could see a version with about half the empty space below trimmed away (although that would make for a big crop combined with what you already shed from the original frame). Did you clone anything along the top, or am I seeing some posterization?

The light and the white feathers look great Bill.
    I like the wing position.
I am not sure about your crop. I think I would like to see this as a landscape with more room in front,

I love the pose and the light under the wings, but have to agree that the crop is a little awkward.

Thanks for the comments. Here's another crop option. And Daniel, yes I did remove an oof sitting duck near the top, and working over the dark bg probably produced some posterization. Hopefully this got rid of it.

Great capture and wing position, Bill. Nice light from setting sun and BG works very well.
