Default Question on computer to monitor connection

I have recently updated my display monitor and am wondering whether there is any particular advantage to the computer to monitor display connection. The monitor is an AsusPA 2482J with 4 different type of connection ports. However my computer has only 2 types of connection, VGA and HDMI. I am currently connected using VGA cable which seems to be fine, but I was wondering whether the performance would be even better if I used HDMI cable connection. Advice very welcome. I would have to purchase a HDMI cable but that is no problem.

you must be using a very old system, VGA has been obsolete for the past few years now, it cannot support high resolution required by today's monitors, it's also an analog connection as opposed to HDMI/DVI/display port that are digital and can support high bit depths.

Hi Arash. The computer is only 15 months old so reasonably up to date technology wise. You didn't say, but are you suggesting that I should connect using HDMI cable?

    Of course,

With VGA you cannot even set your display to its native resolution if it is higher than 1600 pixels. I am surprised your video card has a VGA port if you purchased your system in the last 3 years....
