Wonder if this bird though the couple of pieces of grass and the lichens was enough cover for me not to see it,it finally settled in the full crouch position, on the top of a post perhaps is not the best place to try to hide ,stayed for some time. Did think about taking the little piece of grass from the bill.

Thanks for taking a look .

Hi Keith, no question you have had some incredible encounters with this species, well done.

Unless you are rock steady, I feel 1/250 is a wee bit slow, but then I know you would now push that ISO/SS with this body now. I like the PP although I might just tweak the Blacks & White just a fraction and I mean a fraction. Don't mind the smaller grass blade, but loosing the larger one I think helps. If you need help let me know.

    Overall nice work.

PS WDYT with the second grass gone?

The image of the bird is wonderful! Likewise the fence post, and the beautiful background. If removing one blade of grass is acceptable, then removing two is even better, IMHO.

Thinking back, I think you have stronger images. I am not into removing distractions, but I would love this image without that one grass in pane 2. I like the grass on the bill.

The snipe and the BG and the perch are topnotch.
Another vote for getting rid of the grasses,

You are the Snipe master! Not sure how you get such great close images of these elusive and sketchy birds. Like Marina stated, you have better images but I would take this in a second. Well done Keith

Thanks a lot, was trying to portray the fact that the bird was using the grasses as cover and dropping into the stoop position, not the best at explaining what I see, but do get your points.

David that's a real complement coming from yourself, much appreciated.

Lovely shot I like the pose and the composition, I can envisage the circumstances. The grasses don't trouble me but for some reason I was going to say maybe lose the one that Steve has removed, the remaining one seems credible (having said that I don't think it incredible if it was removed!) One day I will get some shots of snipes - perhaps in North Wales somewhere.
