Took this at Big Glace Bay Lake about 20 minutes from home.
    Canon 1DX 600 mm and 1.4 x
    ISO 1600 F 5.6 SS 1/2500
PP: 90% FF. Usual LR 5 sliders then off to CS5 for NR to BG, levels and USM to JPEG. Pretty much straight out of the box

Terrific capture. Lovely light, and a great pose. I like the crest on his head, that I usually don't see on them. Great POV and BG. I might consider removing the second catchlight, even though it's natural.

Great light and pose. The raised foot really puts this one over the top.

Lovely light on the plumage of this bird like the digging pose with the raised foot, just enough of the Bg to show it's habitat, nice work.

Beautiful bird in fine feather. Love the stepping pose and good look at the foot. Great low angle and your iq as always is perfect.

Very nice Gail. Lovely light and detail, even giving this bird some more room in the frame would work.

Looks like it was windy with those lifted feathers (which I like). Great low angle, and yes the raised foot adds a lot.
