First time this fall I spent time doing some bird photography.
Winter birds not here yet, but a Pied Billed is always a treat for me....

The bird looks great Dan excellent detail and sharpness, not so keen on the BG which does draw my eye a bit, one of these things that is out of your control.

    Hi Dan,

Very nice image quality. This bird really pops! I love the subject and the water texture and color.

I am with Keith regarding the background, with one suggestion: Toning down the saturation of the yellows may be worth a try.

Love the low POV, the pose and detail on the Grebe. The emerald water is lovely, but Ross beat me to it: I'd consider reducing saturation and/or brightness of the yellows in the background grasses. Tough to get close to these little guys, at least in my experience, and you captured him very handsomely.

    The grebe looks wonderful.
    Great IQ, POV and light.
Have to agree with previous critiques about the BG. If you could blur the bent grass to the left of grebe and decrease the yellow in the spot behind the head you would really take this shot up a notch,

The grebe, FG, and surrounding waters all look superb. I agree with the others about the BG though...worth a try and reducing those yellows as suggested.
