    Default Winter is coming...

    Attached Images Attached Images

Last Saturday saw our second big snow dump and this time it will likely stay with temps forecast to stay below freezing for the next month at least....probably till March....

Went out in the falling snow to capture the three prominent winter birds in the Yukon (Bald Eagle, Raven and Magpie). Here is my raven selection from the shoot....

Shot handheld in available light with 7D2 (working way better for me after a trip to CPS Canada even though they claimed nothing was wrong...???), Canon 600 f/4 IS II at f/4 1/800 ISO 1000.

I like the ambiance, the open beak and the snow flakes, I am not seeing much detail in the plumage, some of the softness is likely from the weather but I think it can be recovered to some extent by better processing

Lovely atmosphere surrounding this image Geoff. Nice pose and HA on the bird. I love the wintry feel about it and the open bill.

I don't love winter, but I love the scenery it provides such as this. Excellent composition. I think the blacks could go a touch deeper. I did need to search for the subject's eye a bit which made for a bit of a distraction. All-in-all pretty neat though.

Captured the moment and atmosphere beautifully, agree about the eye but that apart like it a lot.
