Default Almost Halloween Horror! Wheel Bug

My wife came running in from working in the garden and told me I had to come out and see this bug. It really would have been appropriate for Halloween as a true monster. Wheel Bugs can inflict an excruciating bite if handled, they do it defensively with that long "fang" in front. Canon T3i, Canon 60mm Macro, ISO 800, f/11, 1/800, HH. Full bug is cropped about 20%, NR on background in PS CC, slight sharpening.

Great shot was an amazing bug. I am guessing this is a bug due to the shape of the mouth parts, I am glad it's not as big as me!

Correct, it is classified as a bug. Definitely not the prettiest in the insect world!

Thanks, it is one of those bugs that would totally freak me out if it landed on me!

Great image taken outdoors, lots of details in the insect, good simple & natural perch, nice soft mottled colors in the bkgd! These have been showing up at my house in the Arkansas River Valley and at first I didn't know about their bite. Fortunately I did not tempt the fates as I nudged it into a container to carry it inside to photograph it.
