This image was taken from a blind on a woodland pond a couple weeks ago. This drake displayed for several minutes even though no hens were present on the pond. 40D, 500 f/4 +1.4X, 1/640, f/6.3, ISO 400. Comments are welcome.

Great angle, light, exposure control and details. I also like the water colors and might clone out the brighter vertical area above the duck's back.

I agree, a very nice image! Any chance you have any more of the reflection at the bottom of the image?

Hi Mike. Actually, there is more room at the bottom, but the reflection is broken up by waves and I thought it looked better with this crop. :)

    Hi Steve,
I like the composition and the details on your duck, the eye is razor sharp with a good head angle. I do see that the whites on the head are a little hot...

Lovely raised hood and water, the open bill a plus!

What a cool looking duck. I would love to see the full reflection and perhaps a little more sharpening.

Nice detail, great colors and BG. The cropped reflection looks alright to me as it gets pretty distorted by the waves anyway.

Low angle, sweet light, sharp, pose and excellent job on a complicate exposure. Excellent capture!

Great job with a difficult exposure Steve! The bird looks like it could use a slight saturation boost. Love the raised hood and the open beak. Thanks for posting!
