Not sure about this one. I liked the pose and the BG, but I thought the perch was way too big for the bird, so cropped most of it. Now thinking , have I left too little space for the bird to look into. Cloned out an OOF Coatit, perched in front of the Chaffinch. Another from Cairngorm at the weekend. This was a set up using bird seed.

    Thanks for looking

Nice image, love the wing up showing the green rump and the open beak, Will. Beautiful smooth background as well.

Nice shot Will, good pose and exposure, it looks a tad noisy, I would suggest 1/1600 sec would have given very sharp results and a little less noise. I have a very similar set up in my garden - just waiting for the jays but the magpies are not letting them in!

    Fun pose.
I must admit that the noise on the bird is quite significant. I would try to reduce this in PP. IQ not up to your usual standard in this shot but why?.
I can also see cloning remnants along the perch and the edge doesn't seem natural.

Hi Will, as this was a se-up then really having to crop, clone etc means it wasn't quite right IMHO, however, I hope if you go back you can reduce these requirements and so retain more/better IQ, but use that screen, it's there for a reason. Was the subject lighten, as the noise is very evident which is a shame, also you have the detail in the subject, but the 'perch/stump' lacks anything??? I wouldn't have run any NR on the rear/back part of the perch as I personally feel it's too smooth and jars a little with the sharper elements. Killer BKG, complimentary colour.

Good to see you pushing the ISO here and SS.
