The light was harsh this afternoon, but watching a couple gulls toss chunks of ice around was quite entertaining.
I have shots with bigger chunks of ice and more head turn, but I chose this one for the movement in the wings. As gulls are prone to do, another was coming to steal the ice and this one was right at lift off.

Excellent behavior !!! Didn't know they went after ice !!!! Harsh light as you say Light seems from hard left rendering the right with some shadows Not sure if it was possible but getting low would have giving you a pleasing bg !!! Looks very sharp and well exposed !!!
Very interesting behavior, I like the blurred wing. I'm not sure I would have liked to lie in icy water but a lower angle would have been great. :) Maybe a tiny bit more space on the right.
Thanks.
I could have (and did for other shots with a shorter lens) lay on the boardwalk. No icy water for me! :D There were so many gulls around that it was hard isolate just one at times. I think I'll head back and try to get the 600 down on the boardwalk. I need a ground pod or beanbag I suppose.
Dobar dan! :))
Odlican kut i zanimljivo ponasanje!!....svidja mi se pokret na krilima :)
hope you understand it :)....if not.....(great angle and interesting behavior ....I like blurred wings :)
