    Default Eastern Screech-Owl

I just returned from a week-long photo shoot in Texas with Alan Murphy. In addition to photographing the fall raptor migration, we spent some time in his backyard doing daytime and nighttime multiple flash setups. Here's a Red Phase Eastern Screech-Owl that was a regular visitor every evening.

    Canon 1Dx, 100-400 II @ 120 mm, f/11, 1/200, ISO 640, 2 flashes, RangeIR infrared trigger

I like the IQ, wing position, talon forward position, huge pupils, dark BG and composition. Excellent image Doug!

Simply amazing. It would have been awesome anyway, but the foot puts it over the top.

Crazy great image especially given the fact it was taken at night. Perfect shooting angle, excellent exposure and striking detail, Doug.

Wow, what a dynamic image! Lots of action, and at first I did not notice the foot as I was hypnotized by the eye but what a cool bonus once it did "appear" to me. I'm torn on the green spots at right edge, but the owl is so special here that they are not a nuisance - more of an esthetic thing.
