This is very simple, although I did spend quite a bit of time with it. I took the picture of the horse in Beaver, Utah - home of Butch Cassidy. I first used Topaz Clarity then Topaz Impression to get the chalk on sidewalk look. The Impression filter left a bunch of artifacts that I had to clean up, like added edges of brown around the horse's perimeter.

Horses always draw me in, and the set of colors that are adjacent in the color wheel make this even more attractive. I like the look you achieved in processing, too. It might be even better if more of one of the eyes could've been included, but it's very appealing without that.

    Kerry,

Greetings. Striking color yet pastoral feel. Just about as saturated as you could go without going over the top. A slight contrast detail to the eye might work. Thanks for posting.

    Cheers,

The sweet time for horses...fresh grass and freedom to be in the field grazing. The feeling of contentment comes through! Nice effect with the even texture and rich saturated colors.

Thanks everyone! Michael, I agree regarding the saturation but I felt it added to the chalk look, which tends to be very saturated and dominated by primary colors. A couple of years ago I shot the sidewalk art festival at the Santa Barbara mission and it gave me the idea to try this treatment. Those artists do some amazing things, especially the ones that do 3-D sidewalk art.

I particularly like the texture you have achieved. I wonder how the image would look if the texture of the horse and bg differed. To my eye the texture fits the horse better than the bg. Just a thought. Once again, good to have you back.
