This photo was taken Presqu’ile Provincial Park, Ontario, Canada. Skies were heavily overcast.

My Canon EOS 7D mkII and EF100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM lens, were mounted on a small beanbag on the ground. Settings were f/6.7, 1/1000s, ISO 1250, 400mm. Shot RAW and processed in Lightroom.

Cropped to 85% frame width for composition. Cloned out a few distracting leaves, and darker areas in the background. Brought up the shadows in the eye. To the background I applied NR and decreased contrast & saturation.

I very much welcome and learn from your critiques - Thanks for having a look!

    Hi Ross,
    Wonderful diffuse soft light.Great POV.
Since you have already cloned stuff I say 'keep on going" and prune back the stem with the flowers away from the face.
    The green BG is beautiful,
    Gail

Man, if it was not for the stem extending to the face area of the plover (plus the leaves touching the head) this would have been perfect. I love the marching pose, and the vegetation is very appealing. Nice soft greens too.

Thank you very much for your ideas Gail and Daniel. I tried them out, and feel it is an improvement, and learned a bit more about composition and processing as well :)

    Here is my repost :)
