Default Landing gear down, throttle back...

Taken way back in late April, seems such a long time ago, where has this year gone, but this pair were just finding their feet and were from the previous years brood.

As you can see compared to the previous posting, no wild plants had taken over and this was quite baron, apart from the hawthorn hedgerow in the BKG. Very sterile as an image, but this was just getting them used to both my presence and the camera noise (shutter), plus I too needed to get some handle on getting incoming flight shots, as I needed to start to push both myself and the imagery and this is what I wanted to do this year.

Not sure which way to go on the crop, hence the two postings, thoughts welcome. The first being FF top to bottom and having the top clip and the lower wing hidden, to me it's balanced, as I feel it's all about the body angle, talons and eye focus. No need for comments about the species or habits, only about the image please, thank you.

Thanks for either viewing or commenting on the previous image guys.

Here is the second image, as I said earlier, I would be interested to know what thoughts folks have on the crop.

    Cheers

Steve, I prefer the vertical. If the image can cope I would do an even tighter crop that gets the bird and just a bit of the can for context.

Love the image, the intense stare, the talons open, reaching out anticipating touchdown. I prefer the vertical that focuses the viewer on the bird and landing area. Thank you for sharing, Steve.

Hi Steve, great banking angle captured here, and love the concentrated stare, and outstretched feet and talons. With regards to the comp, Ive scrolled between the two for a while, and they both work. If you forced me - the OP.

Cheers Joe & Stu, at the end of the day it was early stages, more getting the eye in and settings, but thought it was worth posing the question. Personally I feel the OP works with a slightly less at the foot as Colin mentioned.

The OP for me Steve. Great detail and colours throughout. Love the stare. Hate the noise those talons would make if they scratched the tin

I really like the view of those talons in this incoming pose Steve! I also like the sharpness, details and DOF. It's the OP for me as well.

    Hello Steve,

The OP makes perfect sense to me:)

Love those talons stretched out, what a ferocious little predator he is and how cute! Well exposed and just an awesome landing shot Steve, perfect timing...

Techs spot on, not a drop of noise at ISO 6400, nice DOF and SS to die for Let's not forget that super smooth BG...

    Warmest regards,
    Gabriela Plesea
