    I got this frame while shooting an airshow in SF last week. This is a typical behavior for all terns, they shake themselves after an unsuccessful dive, it happens pretty fast but with the right technique you can capture it



    1DX 400 DO II + 2X III. ISO 1000. f/8 at 1/3200 sec. hand held. processed with DPP 4.3

    I have tried for 5 years to photograph the "tern shake" without success.
    Everything looks good! I especially like the water droplet trail from the beak that shows the circular motion of the head shake.

    Great action shot, exquisite pose. Especially like the eye contact and open beak beside the shake.
