This is another image from the Adirondacks: it was very early one morning, and these branches / leaves were backlit by the rising sun. It was originally horizontal but I preferred it in the vertical orientation. After increasing saturation of yellows and reds, I applied the Glamour Glow filter with Multiply blend at about 60% opacity. I like it, but I'm wondering if I should add more canvas on the left, and if the vertical orientation works despite the fact that the leaves closest to the left side of the image (which presumably is viewed first) are out of focus? Perhaps I should flip it back (ie., clockwise 90 degrees)...that may make the OOF leaves less noticeable. Comment and critiques welcome.

This is my kind of Fall image -- a few backlit leaves. The combination of foreground and background colors is wonderful. I like the orientation, too. And I don't feel it needs more room on the left. Very nicely done.

Hi, Wendy, I like it the way it is. On my monitor there seems to be a light vertical streak near the left border that you might want to try to smooth the transition into the darker sky. (It's the light obviously shining on the leaves but it seems a little too vertical.)

Dynamic. The bright, warm colors against the cool bg look great and stand out nicely. Now that Cheryl pointed it out, I see the lighter band on the left side--very subtle. I think this orientation works perfectly; no need to add canvas to the left. I tried adding some canvas to the right--maybe a smidgen--but didn't notice a huge difference. This is a lovely, glowing fall image.

Very nice! Now I see the lighter bands several places -- water?? But barely noticeable.

I might go for a little more saturation in the blues, but it's delightful as is with great detail in the leaves!

Thank you, all. I noticed the vertical bands when I posted the image: I think they may have appeared when I applied the Glamour Glow filter. I can clone them out.

    Wendfy,

Greetings. The composition for this type of image is challenging... you hit it just right. Thanks for posting.

    Cheers,

I didn't consciously notice the bands until I saw what Cheryl wrote. When I went back and looked, I kind of liked them. It might be an optical illusion, but they seem a bit orange, and that seems like a good thing.

No doubt in my mind, keep it vertical. The vertical image is very dynamic. The dark grey bg sets off the leaves nicely.

Most issues (small as they are) are addressed above. I like the orientation as it is. Like the shadows showing through the leaves. Nice.
