Hi folks have not posted a Lion for some time so i went through some older files from 2011 from last visit to Etosha .
This nice guy was patrolling in Halali area , on the wide open plains when you travel west from Halali .
I got him coming from far and crossing the road in a typical relaxed BIG MALE manner , not even looking at the cars that have been lined up along the road .

Canon EOS 1 D MK IV
    EF 500 IS L
window bracket and fluid head .

    F 8 ; Iso 160 ; 1/500 sec man exp.

Processed with DPP 4 and PS CC ; cropped for comp to 80 % FF

Thanks for looking and commenting to my previous thread

    Cheers Andreas

Hi Andreas, a terrific walking pose with great head angle. The lion nicely 'pops' against the lighter OOF BG. Am sure he must have been proud of that mane :-)

    Hi Andreas

Love the look he is giving you- he does not give a hoot!
    His shadow adds to depth...
Mid-tones looked a bit thin to me..
Just did Mid-tone Boost ( as you taught me..)
I think it gives a bit more detail on body.
Might be too red, I love it!

    WDYT?
    Regards

    Andre.

Hi Andreas - A very nice image of this handsome male. I too like the walking pose, the placement in frame and the colors. I think both your OP and Andre's rp work. More a matter of taste.

    Rachel

Hi Andreas -- I loved this image , what a handsome looking Lion , lovely colors on his mane and superb walking pose . Initailly i thought a slight mid tones boost will be better but on seeing Andres RP it clearly justifies Rachel's statement that it is more a matter of taste . Love to see more of this specie from your camera .

    Biiiiiig Lion!

Beautiful, and with a mean look. Lovely image Andreas, really nice for an older file.

Love the pose, colours/warmth (both in yours and Andre's RP), very well processed and presented.

I said I won't go back to my lion images for a while, so this makes me very happy - thank you for sharing Boetie:)

    Warmest regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

Can't add much more than the comments above, ticks all the boxes, a typical boss like pose, good techs and low POV with eye contact. Pretty happy with both versions as well.

Lovely light and I just love those plains around Halali.
In an ideal world his right eye (on our left) would be more visible and open ;)
