I'm back after 2 weddings, relaxing time in Maine, and a fantastic two-day Mike Moats Macro Photography Conference in Providence, RI.
It will take me a while to catch up.
I took this photo this week in my garden where a few flowers are still blooming.
A couple of textures and flipped horizontally (thinking of Dennis).

It's good to have you back. I like this image a lot. The complementary colors work very nicely, and the fuzziness of the texture combination echoes that of the bloom and stem. The long vertical fits, too.

Initially, I wondered why you thought I'd have flipped it, so I looked at it both ways. You're right. I would've flipped it like you did. The other way, the stem would've led the eye right out the bottom of the image. This way, it helps to guide it back up to the bloom.

Exactly! I heard that sentence from you in my mind as I worked on the image. :-)

Welcome back! Look forward to your images from your workshop. I like this for the same reasons Dennis does: the fuzzy texture of the flower, the complementary colors, and the way the flower is so nicely isolated against the background.

    Thank you, Dennis, Cheryl, Wendy.
The Mike Moats 2 day Macro Conference was very worthwhile. There were several macro photographers talking about their differing approaches to macro photography. I was able to borrow and try out Tamron and Lens Baby lenses. I learned a lot.
