Default purse of pretty posies on a post

There's a couple that lives a few houses away from us in the summer but in Arizona the rest of the year. Their house is on a corner lot set off by a white picket fence. Between last summer and this one, Becky accumulated enough old purses (each one different) to put one on each post along the two streets and planted flowers in them.

    • A Shadowhouse Creations texture (the origin of the leaf/flowers vignette) was sprinkled three times throughout the layers with different blend modes and opacities.
    • A Joel Olives texture that was mostly orange was used twice. In Divide blend mode it gave the bluish green in the background.
    • Topaz Simplify, Alien Skin Snap Art, and Fractalius were the main plug-ins.
    • About a zillion adjustment layers were used, mainly to affect saturation, contrast, and tones.

I love what you did with the leaf texture! Fantastic look. A great idea well executed.

The purse with flowers is unique. What an enterprising woman! The purse and flowers add a nice touch of color.

I'm bothered by the unevenness of the pickets, especially at the top. There is not enough fence in the image to create a diminishing perspective line. I tried using Correct Camera Distortion, which helped, but didn't completely solve the problem. This may not bother others, but for some reason I'm particularly sensitive to this issue.

I was puzzled by that, too, Anita. Actually, the pickets on both sides of the post were slanted in opposite directions. I was able to fix that -- although, perhaps, not perfectly, by Warping. However, I couldn't put the tops on a horizontal line without causing a greater problem elsewhere.

Yup. I discovered that when I tried Correct Camera Distortion.

    Dennis,

Greetings. I like the overall color and feel, especially the foliage framing. The central part of the image seems just a bit faded (flat localized contrast). A dash of contrast tuning in the middle would work for me. Thanks for posting.

    Cheers,

    -Michael-

Hi, Dennis, the texture with the leaves framing the image is a perfect choice. I don't mind the fence being crooked. I think that particularly with older structures it is normal for them to not be perfectly level and square to the world (I'm thinking of my house as well as images)

I'm on the road accounting for the late comment. I love the subtle nature of the image with the smooth transition of tones and textures. The leaf texture is a nice touch.
