I can't compete with Gail's recent Plover shots, but they reminded me to post this one, taken at a local sod farm in August. I do wish the worm hadn't obscured the bird's leg.

That's a big worm. Nice action shot, Bill but it's a bit on the dark side for my taste. I realize you cannot go any brighter on the blue water but might be able to selectively brighten the rest.
Great timing and capture, Bill. Good detail and like the mud in the FG and on the worm.

Hello Bill,
Did this little bird actually manage to swallow this long worm?
Super behavioural capture and the POV is great, the subject stands out nicely against the BG and I like the pose very much.
I do not know this species at all, so just a question: do you think you have allowed enough space for the virtual legs in the frame?
I personally do not mind the worm covering the leg, really enjoyed viewing and just cannot take my eyes off the bird - there's something about the look on its face that makes me smile, I keep thinking he or she is wondering how to gobble its prey fast enough, but the sheer size of the worm poses a problem:)
Delightful and so cute, thank you for sharing Bill
Kind regards,

Great capture Bill. Lovely action shot. The bird gave you a great pose.

After seeing your last shot, it is hard to post an image that can be better than that!
Gotta love the worm and the pose but I really miss seeing the feet.
Gail
Thanks everyone. I'll post another view, with feet.
