Default Little owl on a wall

More of a natural spot for a little owl, even though the wall is man made ,shot was taken on a cloudy early evening ,just need to get the bird here again while the sun is setting ,not sure if this is the male or female on this occasion(a good guess would say female due to condtion) ,no bait used to get the shot ..Canon 1d mkiv 300mm f4 iso 800 1/250 sec on a tripod in a portable hide Name: Little-owl-on-a-wall-(1-of-1)-2.jpg-BPN.jpg

Stunning owl, and I am finding the colors of the BG and "perch" quite pleasing.

Hi Dennis, good eye contact, and you have brought out the plumage detail nicely. I like the hint of moss on the rocks too. Your off centre placement works well. Just a personal thing, as Im not keen on square crops, I would take a bit off the bottom - and you would have enough moss covered rocks to show.

Hi Dennis - excellent eye contact and I too like the off-center placement. Good suggestion by Stu.

Love the complimentary tones of this image. Of course the little bird and his/her eye contact with you is compelling and draws me right in to the photograph. I have no suggestions for improvment, perfect as is.

Nice sharpness and good eye contact. I like the mossy rocks, but I agree with Stuart that cropping a bit off the bottom of the frame would strengthen the image.

Lovely shot Dennis I like everything though I would agree with previous suggestions i.e. trim a little off the base.

Love the perch! Beautiful color palette in this image.
I love square crops but in this case, I think the image would be stronger if you took some off the bottom and off the rhs for a true vertical.

excellent eye contact, perch and BG. sharp details. I also prefer a traditional portrait crop here

Excellent image Dennis! I like the perch, pose, eye contact, IQ and BG. I could see a version with a little less on the bottom but its a beauty as posted.

Fantastic capture Dennis! I agree with Gail regarding a vertical frame orientation. The rock on the right is the only one without hues of green on it, cropping there would work in my opinion.

I have to say, I would leave the bottom of the frame alone ... not the popular consensus here Lol, but I feel that the size of the stones give us a reference to the size of the little owl.

Thanks for sharing this Dennis, it is certainly interesting to read how differently people see things :)

Your best Owl shot! Detail is excellent. I don't see an issue with the way you composed it.
