    Default Elephant in detail ?

    Attached Images Attached Images

Well it is for sure an Elephant Seal folks , still loads of detail to pick up in this frame .
I cannot follow Andre īs suggestion from the old times , what does make an WL image appealing ..... light , light and again light . Sadly in this frame there was not that much nice and appealing light available at the time of shooting , but i still took the frames under the given light circumstances .
Image of this bull was taken on South Georgia Island at a place called Right Whale Bay .
Reason for this shot was to participate to this month theme , decision wisely taken in 2012 .

    Canon EOS 1D MK III
    EF 70-200 IS L 2,8 at 145 mm
HH lying flat on the ground , very close to this big boy

    F 8 ; Iso 250 ; 1/250 sec

Processed with DPP and PS CC ; double processed and some channel blending tricks for Andre . cropped for final comp.

Thanks for looking and commenting to my last posting .

    Cheers Andreas

Hi Andreas - Nice low pov and the comp works really well. Good detail brought out. He certainly looks like he has been through some wars lately.

Hi Andreas -- Another good Seal image from you , liked the composition and the details , the colors also look perfectly fine . I would have preferred a bit more sharpening especially on the snout as it appears a bit soft compared to its other half of the face . TFS !

A very fine image Andreas, I like the tight close up with lot of detail and good DOF. Nice low angle and comp. TFS.

    Hello Andreas:)

Great "macro" shot of this Ellie Seal, the settings on your camera did raise my eyebrows for a moment there but when I saw the size of your lens I relaxed, LOL.

Wonderful colours and tones, those scars create a dramatic feel to the image. Well composed and superbly processed Andreas, the pose is great and that "dark" eye has some wonderful detail in it - congrats Boetie!

    Have a wonderful evening,
    Gabriela Plesea

Hi Andreas, well seen and capture with good detail. like the framing and the scars from duelling with others. Interesting he allowed you so close as I reckon we could move faster than you if required .

Reason for this shot was to participate to this month theme, decision wisely taken in 2012 .
    Good thinking.

    Hi Andreas

Stunning detail! Nice detail in that black eye and the surrounding snow!
I must still learn how to properly read 'em channels before I blend them- can't find the right cook book?
I think he is looking straight at you!
Steve- he allowed Andreas so close because he can, not because he is a good guy...

Man, I wish the photographer could use some antibiotics for that purulent wound on his snout..
    Regards

    Andre.

Thank you so much folks for your kind comments , very much appreciated .

Andre - who is the good guy ..... me or the bull ? LOL .
Well he was quite relaxed and i think i could have gone for an even wider lens ..... but i did want to push or exceed certain limits folks , as i wanted to get back as one piece and not injured or not to put too much pressure on this very nice guys !!!!!

Loi - i think there is enough eye contact and cannot get any more than this from a side profile IMHO .

    Thanks again , Andreas
