I positioned myself around the setup to get the red colors only for a few frames.
In retrospective I feel I should have used more of this colorful backdrop as it looks better that the green IMO.
    Thanks for looking.

Beautiful specimen, nice perch Karl! Lovely soft BG! I think the mixture of red & green actually works well. There's a slight red cast on the bird's front too - is it natural? Reflected red light?

A very pleasing image. I also immediately noticed the red on the breast/belly and wondered if this was reflected from more red vegetation like what is in the background. I agree with your assessment, more of the red background would have been even better. Otherwise a very nice image, good perch, head angle and nice and sharp.

Certainly not criticism more a suggestion much prefer the red but might tone it down a little bit, do see the cast but wonder if it's from the BG colours, your first post of this bird set the standard very high and do think this one is up there with it.
    Excellent work Karl.

Thanks, Tobie. It is the magenta cast you see that I forgot to check on.
Now it is removed at least from the bird.

The repost looks real good Karl. The perch is as beautiful as the bird. Nice one

Handsome bird, standing out very nicely against a beautiful background. Interesting perch. Repost is an improvement. The head seems just a bit soft on my screen.

You certainly made the most of this wonderful opportunity.
    Repost fixes my main concern.
I agree that the reds in the BG really look nice but I think I like the first picture better although both are excellent.
The BG seems to have some wavy posterization. Probably from compression of the JPEG. I would love to know how to fix that. Anybody out there have any tips?

    Hi Gail,

    Thanks for the comment.
    About the posterization.
I was told by one of the members here that by applying surface blur to the background at: Radius: 2 pixels, Threshold: 4 levels two consecutive times then adding noise at 0.4 % Gaussian would fix the problem.
It does improve it but it is not a perfect fix.
Let's see if there is a better fix out there that someone would share with us.

What a pleasing image and lovely bird. Nice layers on the underside of the bird's tail. BG is killer. I wouldn't mind seeing a sliver more on top.

    Hi Karl,

I have experienced similar posterization by doing some of my processing in an application that does not support 16-bit colors. When I switched from Photoshop Elements to LR or Photoshop, those lines disappeared.
