This female was picking up grit along this dirt road up in Algonquin P.P.
We had a lucky day on our last day there, getting the Gray Jays, one Spruce Grouse and a Bull Moose.
    Thanks for looking.

I like the sharpness, details, setting and composition. Red leaf compliments the red around the eye well. Very well done Karl!

Beautiful detail Karl. Great POV and comp. The BG colours bring the image alive. Well done on a fantastic capture. Thanks for sharing as I have never seen this bird.

Always a fun species to encounter, one I have not photographed for too long though! I like the alert pose, sharp details, and colours. I do feel the brightness of the ground is a bit over-empowering so perhaps toning it down some would really work well. I would also soften the thicker vertical grass line at the top. Thanks for sharing this beauty - makes me want to go back to Algonquin...

Super great subject, Karl. I like the repost. Cool how the red leaf and the bird's eyebrow match.
