    Karl this is simply superb IMHO,you have posted some cracking images but this as got to be one of your best, composition ,bg and the bird itself are excellent.

    Absolute gem the pose is really interesting and the perch an background idyllic - just couldn't ask for more.
    I haven't seen one before I get the impression it is not very big - certainly smaller than our jay.

    Thanks Bill. It was a setup. I used branches of a Tamarac tree which is native in Algonquin P.P. where this image was shot.
    I used peanuts and raisins to attract them. They love raisins.

    I really like the framing of the bird with the upper branch. Interesting look-back pose. Good image.

    This is awesome Karl. One of your best shots IMO.
    Only suggestion I can offer to improve this already great shot would be to blend the OOF vertical "branch" on the RHS of frame,
