Default Phases of the lunar eclipse

I photographed the eclipse with my Canon SX50. I chose it over my DSLR because it extended to 1200mm, providing me with greater detail of the moon's craters, etc. I'm not sure it was worth the relative loss of image quality, and it definitely couldn't handle the total eclipse...I just couldn't get enough light into the camera. But it is what it is. Anyway, I'm hoping that the montage of the eclipse's phases is compelling enough to make up for the compromises I made. For what it's worth, my friends on Facebook loved it! Critiques welcome.

    Wendy,

Greetings. Looks pretty cool to me. Might want to clean up the artifacts in the upper left corner (clipping blacks a bit would probably work. Thanks for posting.

    Cheers,

I've been waiting to see who would do something like this. I got a couple of "good" shots but not enough for a complete transition. nice

I'm happy one of the group captured the eclipse. Well done Wendy.

Very nice, especially for such a small camera. It looks like a good tradeoff. The first (presumably full) moon is unexpectedly dark on the bottom -- clouds?? The moon is incredibly dim in total eclipse -- you did well to get this far. Good work!

I like the uneven spacing. More often than not, I prefer that a strong diagonal go down to the right. In this case, though, going up was definitely the right choice in my opinion. The contrast of the moons against the black background is very effective.

Thank you, all, for your comments. Diane...yes, the dark shadows on the full moon are clouds. I think some of my other full moon shots did not include clouds but I don't think they were as sharp. Dennis...I didn't really plan the uneven spacing: it was more likely due to the difficulty I had figuring out the exact boundaries of each moon, especially the ones that mostly in the eclipse shadow. But I'm glad you like the outcome!

Really nice! (What sort of exposure did you need for the last full eclipse image? - you say there was not enough light?)

Outstanding work Wendy! I'm surprised a compact camera did such a good job with the eclipse.
