    Default Gull-billed Tern juvenile

The month is running out, and having gone through some older files I'm coming up with some more juvies to post. Not little baby birds, but perhaps they meet the intent. This one is a young Gull-billed Tern that was flying around with the adults as they gorged themselves on a recent hatch of little frogs on a disused cranberry bog. A bit noisy on the near underwing, but a cute little fellow nonetheless. The adults this time of year (August) have a black cap and darker primary tips.

A bird I have never seen. Nice flight shot, good flight pose, Bill.

Nice image of a juvenile not often seen. Agree that the noise isn't ideal, but we are probably the only ones who notice it.

Perhaps you underexposed (checking out the settings used compared to apparent light in image as presented) and that's why the noise.
Nice looking bird, good pose and well framed.
    Thanks for sharing Bill!

Not a species we often see. I could see a version with less canvas below, and the noise should be able to clean up nicely. I like the view of the "scaling" feather patterns on the far wing.
