I love the composition, colors and tonalities. I'm not wild about the painter effect on the water, and the crooked horizon is a distraction for me. The cutout artifacts in the rigging (if that's what it is called) are an interesting and artistic effect -- sort of ghostly.

This appealed to me so much I couldn't help playing with it a bit. I'd not have noticed the horizon seeming to slant, but I corrected that. As a result, the masts became more nearly vertical, of course. Their angle is one of the things that appeals to me a lot in your image, so I Warped them back to where they had been. All the while -- even though I like having all that color -- I wondered how it would like in black & white and tried that out. It can be quite dramatic that way. When I got the Silver Efex layer, I did what I think Michael does to adjust his color images using Silver Efex. The most noticeable change was a lightening of the blues. I liked that because it provides a greater contrast with the silhouette of the schooner.

Very interesting application and image. I wish we had some sailboats in this area, but due to the Mangrove here, we don't have good access to the Gulf, so it is mainly stinkboats! I have to go to Tampa and beyond to find real boats, and they are usually in the docks as most of the sailers nowdays only party on boats.

I like the boat details, I might have cut back on the sky and water areas little. They seem a little overpowering, but that is my personal feeling. I like your work with the boats and don't want to discourge you! ; >) I do like the lighting of the sky. Nice one.

Mitch, the sky is dramatic.. I like the composition. The image feels a bit tight. I expanded the right and left sides, straightened the horizon and toned down the brightness.

I think Gary's treatment helps to emphasize the boat by separating it from the background. The added width was a good idea, too.
