    Black kite photographed in early morning light against a partially overcast sky whilst hunting over the Murray river cliffs in South Australia. Canon EOS 7D Mark II, EF600mm f/4L IS II USM +1.4x III, 1/5000, f8.0, ISO 1250, EC + 2/3, handheld. Comments welcome.

    You had a lot of light available (unlike in Canada) based on the setting. Nice incoming flight shot.

    Good sharp head on shot.
    I like the near eye level viewpoint.
    I see a bit of magenta fringing around the kite.

    Are you shooting in Av mode? If so, I strongly suggest you get to manual mode ASAP. Especially for flying birds. Your exposures will always be consistent. Just a tip.

    I like the head-on look too and would leave the comp a little less tight (my taste).

    Neat incoming pose, and yes you did have good light to deal with - I only wish it was more frontal on the subject to light the eye more evenly.
