Hi Dale.
A few pointers on your capture...The eagle is out of focus, fuzzy looking...:eek: I would suggest cloning out the oof branches coming up from the bottom of your frame, and the one to the left of your subject. In addition you might want to off center your eagle, he is too centered for my taste. I also see noise in the background... :cool:
Hi Dale. I think a vertical crop might work better here. I agree about removing the OOF stuff. You got good detail in both the darks and the lights. However, the image could be sharper. You used ISO 200 on a 5D; pushing your ISO to 400 or 800 (no problem on a 5D) would have allowed you to use a faster shutter speed and a smaller aperture. A faster shutter speed is always a good thing on a rocking boat. And the 100-400 gives the sharpest results wih f/8 to f/10. Thanks for posting.
I like the direct eye contact and exposure control and agree that a vertical crop, sharpening and cloning out of the OOF branches would improve the image a lot. Keep them coming!
The above comments right on. Couldn't resist playing around with this one some just to see what I could come up with. Here's an alternate version that might work better. I really like the pose of the eagle .. classic.
