I find these birds incredibly difficult to photograph as they are always flitting about. It paused momentarily and this was the best I could do. I did try to remove the two OOF bits of grass across its belly and shoulder but my PS skills weren't up to the job.

Taken in Elmley Marshes, Kent with a 40D and a Canon 400mm DO + 1.4TC. Cropped slightly all around.

    Evaluative metering + 1/3 stop. F 7.1, 1/640 sec, ISO 400. Aperture priority.

    Thanks for looking.

    Hi Sean,
What a beautiful image! Personally I don't find the grass a problem as I feel that it shows the bird in it's true environment. I agree, they certainly are difficult to photograph!!!

Neat! I also like the grass.

Feel like maybe some of the left and a bit more on the right?

You did a nice job with the bird Sean! Good eye contact and sharpness. I would crop a little off the bottom and move the bird to the left in the frame. Thanks for posting!
