    Default Rufous Hummingbird (male)

The Fiesty Rufous Hummingbird fears little and this year we had many males that dominated the feeders, chasing away all who dared enter his territory. I have several shots of the gorget in its full brilliance, but until I figure out how to tone it down in PS, most of my images will remain in my delete bin :(

Canon EOS 1D MKIII, EF 100-400 L series lens. 1/250 X-Sync shutter speed using four flashes set at 1/32 power.

Hi Wally if you are talking about the brilliant over saturated colors? Let me know and will be easy !!!

Really nice image. All I would ask for here is shifting the bird down some and a slight head turn to make it perfect. Excellent bg !!!

As Alfred said, easy to tone down the oversaturated stuff. Reds are almost as easy to blow out as whites. Wing position is a little less than ideal, and a slight head turn would be nice. But you got great sharpness in the body. Thanks for posting.

Yes, I have some really nice shots, but the orange red gorget is blown. Even the natural light shots without flash the gorget just does not come into PS with the same detail. I have tried with my limited knowledge of PS to correct, but no success so far.
Shifting the bird down ..no problem,. turning the head you will have to discuss with the model!:D

Wally, why don't you post the unedited jpg on this thread and let us see what we can do with it. I'd be happy to have a look at the RAW file too; PM me and I'll give you an email address to send it to.

Great hummer shot and the BG works really well, Wally.

I like the BG and eye contact and would sharpen the bird a bit more and wish for a wing position that would show more of the wings.
